virus

The Common Cold Virus

The structure of the virus is attaching to the receptor and being taken in and reproducing in the cells to cause for infection in the body.

The virus attaches to a host by getting into the nose with having dirty fingers from drops of coughing or sneezing, the virus then is put to the back of the nose and on the adenoid area. Then the virus attaches itself to a receptor on the surface of the nasal cells.

The process that the virus goes through to replicate is it is taken in by the cell that it has attached to and starts to infect it, new virus particles are produced in the infected cell, then the infected cell dies and explodes, releasing newly made virus’s to infect more cells, and starts the whole process all over again. It takes 8-12 hours for the virus to replicate.
